Verify your Google Business Profile with video recording

Modified on Tue, Jul 4, 2023 at 11:23 AM

After setting up a profile, we need to verify it to prove that the business is real and legitimate business.

This document will show you how to verify the profile with video recording.

How the video recording verification method works

You will record a continuous video about your location, equipment, and proof of management. Then, you’ll submit it to Google Business Profile. A Google agent will review it to see if it’s a real and legitimate business.

The video is kept private and is only used for verification purposes.

Step-by-step instruction

Important: You can delete your video at any time. If you cancel a video upload, neither you nor Google will have access to the video. Learn how to delete your video.

Step 1: Plan your video before recording

In one continuous recording, include:

  1. Your current location. To show your Google Maps location, capture outside signs, like your street’s name, nearby businesses, or the area around your business.

  2. Business or equipment. To show that your business is at this Google Maps location, capture your operations. This can include things like stock for sale, branded equipment, marketing materials, and tools you use to serve your customers.

  3. Proof of management. To show that you’re authorized to represent your business, capture your access to employee-only items or areas. This includes things like a cash register, kitchen, storage room, or non-sensitive business documents. You can also use your keys to open your facility

Step 2: On your mobile device, go to your Business Profile to start recording.

How to go to your business profile on mobile:

  1. On Google Search (logged in with the email that has access to the profile), search for “my business”. Your business profile will show up above the search result.

  2. Tap Get verified. Then continue.
  3. Tap Start recording. Follow the steps and record your video.
  4. Tap Stop recording. Upload video.

Step 3: Inform ShedPro that you successfully submit the video, and wait for the review

After you upload your video, Google reviews it. Reviews can take up to 5 business days.

  • If you’re verified, you get a notification.

  • If the video method doesn't work, the  “Get verified” button will show up. You can try a different verification option.
